Vice President for Finance and Administration
Jay Calamia is Loyola University New Orleans’ Vice President for Finance and Administration, and as such is responsible for the planning, integration, and control of all of the University’s financial resources. His role requires specific emphasis toward development of appropriate financial strategies to ensure the delivery of the University’s strategic vision. He is responsible for the coordination of the Financial Affairs, Human Resources, Payroll and Benefits, Risk Management, Student Finance, Bursar, Portfolio Management, Purchasing, Central Receiving, Print Services, University Post Office, University Police, and Physical Plant departments, as well as the Whelan Children's Center.
Mr. Calamia received his undergraduate degree in General Business Administration from the University of New Orleans. He is a graduate of Cor Jesu High School (Bro. Martin).
A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, his career in higher education financial management spans 46 years at Loyola University. He first came to Loyola in 1969 and has served in a number of financial and administrative capacities throughout his career. He has supervised Financial Affairs, Student Finance, Student Loans, Bursar, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Portfolio Management, Risk Management, Human Resources, Payroll, Bookstore, Telecommunications, Fixed Asset Control, Post Office and other university service operations. He assumed his role of Vice President for Finance and Administration in May, 2008.
Mr. Calamia is a member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers, Southern Association of College and University Business Officers, Association of Jesuit Colleges and University Business Officers, Risk and Insurance Management Society, and University Risk Management and Insurance Association. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Chateau de Notre Dame.
